By- Shreya Sharma
Makeup can be fun and creative way to enhance our looks, but sometimes it can mess with our looks. There are many things that we do to make our eyelashes look long, full and perfectly curved, but over time these things can have negative effects on our eyelashes. We wonder that what if our eyelashes fall more than normal, they can grow back. But your eyelashes are more delicate than your other hair and your eyelid skin is more delicate, so you need to be very careful while dealing with them. Here are 9 small things you do that ruin your eyelashes.
- Curling them too tight
If you are using an eyelash curler, use it before you put on any product. Keep it loose and do not put out too hard because it will rip out your eyelashes preventing them to grow back normally. If you use eyelash curler in a wrong way it can damage your eyelashes.
- Ripping out mascara chunks
When we apply mascara, there could be a giant ball of mascara sitting on the top of our eyelids or gluing our eyelashes together like a web. And in that case, most of us try to rip that off and start over which actually more harm to them because it rips out your eyelashes. To clean mascara clumps, use a mascara wand or a Q-tip dipped in makeup remover.
- Wearing false lashes too often
If you frequently wear false lashes, you should be professionally good at applying them and taking them off because the glue blocks your hair follicles and can even rip off your eye lashes every time you remove them. Using false lashes too often might actually put you in a condition where you will have to be totally dependent on them.
- Rubbing your eyes
When you rub your eyes really hard, this unnecessary friction will twist out your eyelashes. If you are worried about your eyelash, try to control this habit of yours. To have nice long lashes, do not rub on them like crazy.
- Depending on eyelash extension
This might seem more positive alternative to false lashes because they are long term. But eyelash extensions can also harm your eyelashes. In eyelash extension, false eyelashes are placed on the top of your natural eyelashes- so when the extensions fall out, they actually take out some of your natural lashes.
- Pulling eyelash to remove makeup
You need to be gentle while removing eye makeup because scrubbing too hard can ruin your eyelashes. Use the cleanser used for removing eye makeup because that is sensitive area, especially if you use waterproof mascara because it is hard to remove that.
- Sleeping with mascara on eyes
Mascara makes your eyelashes hard, which makes it more sensitive to the friction like rubbing on pillow. This can cause eyelash breakage. Sleeping with mascara on can make your eyelashes brittle and you can find stray eyelashes on your pillow when you wake up.
- Dyeing your eyelash
Hair dye has its harmful effects on the hair that grows out of your scalp, so putting dye on your eyelashes is a pretty bad idea. It’s a popular treatment, especially if you have lighter eyelashes and don’t want to use mascara every day, but putting those chemicals so close to your eye and letting them sit on your lashes can make them fall out, especially if you make this a routine procedure.
- Constantly touching your eyes
You might touch your eyelashes absentmindedly again and again, but it can cause your lashes to rip off and it can also add bacteria to your eye which can cause infection. Wash your hands before you touch your eyes.
