There are a lot of misconceptions floating around us about virginity. You are being told at several times that this is the right time to lose your virginity. First of all there is nothing like losing virginity, you share it. And there are so many things you heard about losing virginity that are actually wrong. Here are the myths about losing your virginity.

  1. You will fall in love with the person who you have sex with for the first time.

The belief that girl fall in love with the person they have sex with for the first time, will demand relationship and become too attached and desperate is not always true. It is the oxytocin hormones that releases during orgasm that makes the couple feel close. So make sure that after sex what you feel is just not love.

  1. You have to lose your virginity before you start college

College is the center of all sexual activities and hook ups but this is not true for all. This is no truth or rule to lose your virginity before you start your college. No one cares whether you have lost it or not. It is totally your call when to act in that manner and not get into the pressure of what people say.

  1. You can lose it once

Losing virginity does not necessarily mean the girl has penetrative sex for the first time and breaks her hymen. There are some, who lose their virginity before having sex whether by falling off bike, masturbation, or inserting tampon. It may sound that someone who had never had sex is a virgin. Disregarding the myth that you only have one V-card to lose is positive on multiple levels. First, it allows us to appreciate and decide the significance of various sexual activities for ourselves. It makes virginity feel far less finite, because there are always new things to look forward to.

  1. It has to be with someone you love

“Your first time should be with someone you love”, the instructions stating that should not be heard. Many people desire to lose virginity to someone we love but not all. As long as you are comfortable, it is okay both ways.  Love shouldn’t necessarily be the reason when choosing a pertner to have sex for the first time. Maybe it will be with someone you love, or maybe it will be with a guy you have been hooking up with for a while and you decide you’re comfortable enough to lose your virginity to.

  1. It will be monumental event that changes everything

We constantly made to believe that losing virginity will change you into a woman and you will suddenly feel all grown up. But the truth is you will wake up next day with no change at all to make you feel grown up. Losing virginity is no way to grow up.

  1. It will hurt, it will bleed and there is no way it will feel good

Losing your virginity should not be made synonym to great pain. There could be some discomfort. Pain during a girl’s first time having penetrative sex can usually be boiled down to two culprits: nerves and inadequate preparation. When you are nervous, your vagina tighten up, making it more difficult and painful and causing it to bleed. Be comfortable to reduce the chances of pain and bleeding.
