By- Shreya Sharma

Shaving down there is like the most used way to clean your bushes, it is painless, cheap and private; because you know, you do not need any appointment for this or have to go awkward with your salon professionals. But you need to be very careful with this, because if done wrong it can lead you to so many problems like burns, bumps, irritated skin and ingrown hair and can be even more dangerous. Here, we present you, 9 step by step guide on how to shave down there!

1. The razor selection

Invest in a razor with changeable blades instead of buying cheap disposable razors. You can consider buying man’s razor that has smoothing strip or cushion over it that is designed for coarse hair.

2. Trim it

Before heading the shower, trim your hair if they are longer than ¼ inch using a small manicuring scissor because that will make your work easy and you will not accidentally hurt yourself.

3. Let your hair soften

Do not shave right away as you step into the shower. Take time of 5-10 minutes so that the warm water softens your hair and makes it easier to shave. If you are not doing it in the shower, you can even use a warm and damp cloth to cover your area for a few minutes so that it makes the same impact. You can even try hair conditioner to soften your hair.

4. Reduce the possibility of ingrown hair

Exfoliate the area by scrubbing the skin gently with a washcloth or loofah to reduce the possibility of ingrown hair.

5. Use shaving cream

Make sure you use female shaving cream that has moisturizing elements such as Aloe Vera and does not have added scents that can irritate your skin. Do not use soap. Apply loads of shaving cream and let it sit for a bit so that it further softens your hair.

6. Get started

Get it slow because your skin over this area is quite sensitive as compared to the skin of your other parts like thighs. Pull the skin tight with your free hand and shave without applying too much pressure. Your razor blades should be smooth enough.

7. Be cautious

If you shave in the direction of hair growth, it decreases the risk of ingrown hair. To get a closer shave, you will have to shave in the opposite direction of the hair growth. If you are opting to shave against the direction, use loads of shaving cream. You can even go first in the direction of hair first and then can opt to go against the direction to get off with what is left. Avoid going over the same skin too many times.

8. Take a pause

Pause often to rinse of your razor to avoid nicks and keep your razor effective.

9. After shaving

Once you are done with shaving, rinse the area with warm water and pat dry. Do not use any kind of after shave. Use tweezer to get rid of any stray or hard-to-reach hair. Apply baby oil or moisturizer or aloe vera.
